Dem Praises Communist Dictator, WH Celebrates Ramadan, Elderly man's finger bitten off by Obamacare supporter

On December 16th, 1773, "radicals" from Marlborough, Massachusetts, threw 342 chests of tea from three British East India Company ships into Boston Harbor in protest of oppressive taxation and tyrannical rule. They wrote of their actions, "A free-born people are not required by the religion of Christ to submit to tyranny, but may make use of such power as God has given them to recover and support their ... liberties." - from The Patriot Post Daily e-mail, 9-3-09. "You've got your usual slothfulness, boozing, skirt-chasing members of Congress -- we could only wish that those were our problems. Right now we are looking at reaching down the throat and ripping the guts out of freedom [in] this country. And we may never be able to restore it if we don't man up and take this one on. This has to be defeated -- this Obama Care. Cap and trade has to be defeated. Those two alone have the strength to destroy this country forever." - Representative Michelle Bachmann, Republican, Minnesota 1) Representative Watson (Democrat, California) Praises Fidel Castro WATSON: It was just mentioned to me by our esteemed speaker, "Did anyone say anything about the Cuban health system?" And let me tell you before you say, "Oh, it's communist," you need to down there and see what Fidel Castro put in place. And, I want you to know... Now, you can think whatever you want to about Fidel Castro but he was one of the brightest leaders I have ever met!  See: http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_082809/content/01125116.guest.html 2) Napolitano: 'Big Influx' of new infections likely …In her interview Wednesday on NBC's "Today" show, Napolitano was asked why the government isn't requiring all Americans to get the swine flu vaccine, once it's available. "Because health programs generally aren't mandatory, and you get pushback to that," she replied. What kind of stupid question is that? Because this is America, and, at the moment, some of us still value liberty. Vaccines, particularly this one, are not without risk. See yesterday’s post.  Duncan, appearing on ABC's "Good Morning America," said federal officials want to make sure that every young person between 5-24 get the vaccine, free of charge. Thanks, but no thanks.  See: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090902/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/us_us_swine_flu 3) Obama Praises Islam as 'Great Religion' WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama on Tuesday praised American Muslims for enriching the nation's culture at a dinner to celebrate the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. "The contribution of Muslims to the United States are too long to catalog because Muslims are so interwoven into the fabric of our communities and our country," Obama said at the iftar, the dinner that breaks the holiday's daily fast. See: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/01/obama-calls-islam-great-religion-ramadan-dinner/ 4) President Obama to address Congress President Barack Obama will address a joint session of Congress on health care reform in prime time on Wednesday, Sept. 9, a senior official tells POLITICO. …The last time a president addressed a joint session of Congress that wasn’t a State of the Union, or the traditional first address by a new president, was Sept. 20, 2001, when President George W. Bush spoke on the war on terrorism following the 9/11 attacks.  See: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0909/26700.html 5) ObamaCare Supporter Bites Finger Off Elderly Man You have a healthcare rally with opposing sides. Someone from one side bites the finger off an elderly man from the other side. You and I both know which side did the biting, but can the media just come out and say "Moonbat Bites Man"? Of course not. See if you can even follow the multi-paragraph description of the event.  A witness from the scene says a man was walking through the anti-reform group to get to the pro-reform side when he got into an altercation with the 65-year-old, who opposes health care reform.  The 65-year-old was apparently aggressive and hit the other man, who then retaliated by biting off his attacker's pinky, according to Karoli from DrumsnWhistles. The single eyewitness account coming from a Moveon.Org blogger. See: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/mithridate-ombud/2009/09/03/obamacare-supporter-bites-finger-elderly-man But another eyewitness call the Rush Limbaugh show today. He saved the man’s finger and took it to the hospital to be re-attached. He said that the pro-reform man provoked it - by getting in the elderly man’s face - and then bit off his finger. Hmmm…Oh wait, I thought these people were supposed to be pacifists… 6)Obamacare: The Only Exit Strategy …The regulated insurance companies will get two things in return. Government will impose an individual mandate that will force the purchase of health insurance on the millions of healthy young people who today forgo it. And government will subsidize all the others who are too poor to buy health insurance. The result? Two enormous new revenue streams created by government for the insurance companies.  And here's what makes it so politically seductive: The end result is the liberal dream of universal and guaranteed coverage -- but without overt nationalization. It is all done through private insurance companies. Ostensibly private. They will, in reality, have been turned into government utilities. No longer able to control whom they can enroll, whom they can drop and how much they can limit their own liability, they will live off government largess -- subsidized premiums from the poor; forced premiums from the young and healthy. …Isn't there a catch? Of course there is. This scheme is the ultimate bait-and-switch. The pleasure comes now, the pain later. Government-subsidized universal and virtually unlimited coverage will vastly compound already out-of-control government spending on health care. The financial and budgetary consequences will be catastrophic.  However, they will not appear immediately. And when they do, the only solution will be rationing. That's when the liberals will give the FCCCER regulatory power and give you end-of-life counseling.  But by then, resistance will be feeble. Why? Because at that point the only remaining option will be to give up the benefits we will have become accustomed to. Once granted, guaranteed universal health care is not relinquished. Look at Canada. Look at Britain. They got hooked; now they ration. So will we. August was the worst month of Barack Obama's presidency. And he seems to know it—he is now planning to deliver a speech to a joint session of Congress 232 days into his administration in a desperate attempt to save his biggest domestic priority, overhauling health care. He has already had the budget-busting $787 billion stimulus package, a budget that doubles the national debt in five years, an earmark-laden appropriations bill that boosted domestic spending nearly 8%, and a cap-and-trade energy tax that limped through the House with dozens of Democratic defections (and which has stalled in the Senate). These achievements are unpopular, so they are boomeranging on him. Mr. Obama's problems are legion. To start with, the president is focusing on health care when the economy and jobs are nearly everyone's top issue. Voters increasingly believe Mr. Obama took his eye off the ball.  In addition, Mr. Obama is trying to overhaul health care without being able to tap into widespread public unhappiness. Nearly nine out of 10 Americans say they have coverage—and large majorities of them are happy with it. Of the 46 million uninsured, 9.7 million are not U.S. citizens; 17.6 million have annual incomes of more than $50,000; and 14 million already qualify for Medicaid or other programs. That leaves less than five million people truly uncovered out of a population of 307 million. Americans don't believe this problem—serious but correctable—justifies the radical shift Mr. Obama offers. Schools districts across the country have the option to choose if they show the President’s address to their students. …Other passages that remain in the preparatory lesson plans for teachers– one written for Pres K – 6th grade, and a separate one for 7th grade – 12th - grade instruct students to set goals for themselves based on what the President’s speech will instruct them to do.  Students should discuss, the lesson plan writes, “What do you think the President wants us to do? Does the speech make you want to do anything? Are we able to do what President Obama is asking of us? What would you like to tell the President?” And another section within the preparatory materials instructs students to discuss, “Is President Obama inspiring you to do anything? Is he challenging you to do anything?” See: http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/09/obamas-back-to-school-message----scribbled-with-some-controversy.html 7a) Critics Decry Obama's 'Indoctrination' Plan for Students …Students in grades pre-K-6, for example, are encouraged to "write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals."  Teachers are also given guidance to tell students to "build background knowledge about the president of the United States by reading books about presidents and Barack Obama." During the speech, "teachers can ask students to write down key ideas or phrases that are important or personally meaningful." See: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/02/critics-decry-obamas-lesson-plan-students/ …"As far as I am concerned, this is not civics education — it gives the appearance of creating a cult of personality," said Oklahoma state Sen. Steve Russell. "This is something you'd expect to see in North Korea or in Saddam Hussein's Iraq." Obama's got your e-mail  White House spammer-in-chief wants contractor to track critics The White House is hiring a contractor to harvest information about Americans from its pages on social networking websites such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr.  The National Legal and Policy Center, or NLPC, revealed the White House New Media team is seeking to hire a technology vendor to collect data such as comments, tag lines, e-mail, audio and video from any place where the White House "maintains a presence" – for a period of up to eight years.  "The contractor shall provide the necessary services to capture, store, extract to approved formats, and transfer content published by EOP (Executive Office of the President) on publicly-accessible web sites, along with information posted by non-EOP persons on publicly-accessible web sites where the EOP offices under PRA (Presidential Records Act) maintains a presence," the posting states. …NLPC warns, "[V]irtually any communication mentioning the president or the administration could become subject to collection and archiving under the act. This is not out of an 'abundance of caution,' but out of an over-abundance of power. President Obama should make sure that this plan goes no further."
