Awakening a sleeping giant, White House: spams people, stuffs Town Halls with supporters, and attacks Glenn Beck

“I don’t believe this is just about health care. It’s not about TARP. It’s not about left and right. This is about the systematic dismantling of this country. I’m only 35 years-old. I’ve never been interested in politics. You have awakened the sleeping giant.” - Katy Abrams, protestor at one of Arlen Specter’s Town Halls  1) Church bans six dissident members New Coral Ridge pastor moves against members who want him fired FORT LAUDERDALE - Internal divisions at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church burst into the open this past weekend as six members were ordered to stay off the premises. The six have called for the ouster of the Rev. W. Tullian Tchividjian, saying he is deserting the heritage of his revered predecessor, the Rev D. James Kennedy. In reply, the Fort Lauderdale church has accused them of spreading rumors and disrupting church unity. Among the six is Kennedy's daughter, Jennifer Kennedy Cassidy. ...It all seemed a good platform for Tchividjian, one of seven grandsons of Graham. He is former pastor of New City Church in Margate, which has merged with Coral Ridge. But rather than stressing "battleground" issues championed by Kennedy, such as abortion and homosexuality, Tchividjian urges listeners to set an example of the way believers should live. His style puts him among a new breed of evangelicals, such as Joel Hunter of Orlando and Rick Warren of California: concerned less with politics and more with personal effectiveness as Christians. While they don't totally shun social issues - Warren has launched programs on HIV and poverty - they set their gospel in a wider envelope of what it means to be a Christian. See: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/broward/fort-lauderdale/sfl-coral-ridge-081009,0,1694944.story “A wider envelope.” What a shame. D. James Kennedy, you will be sorely missed.  It’s not a “new breed”! It’s an old breed that has been around for some 20 years now and is taking over the Church like a cancer. WAKE UP CHURCH! While you are preciously guarding your 501(c)3 status your country is being stolen from you! You have despised your birthright and sold it for a loaf of bread. This isn’t Rome! We live in a free country that was purchased with the blood of our forebears and it will take constant vigilance to keep it that way. While you have been preaching on being nice and marriage and family (all the while becoming more and more inbred and inwardly-focused), while refusing to discuss the elephant in the room, your courageous Christian forebears are rolling over in their graves. Fifty percent of your children at places like Wheaton College voted for Obama. They aren’t so sure that abortion and homosexually are wrong anymore. They aren’t so sure Jesus is the only way. THIS IS THE REASON OUR COUNTRY IS IN THE TROUBLE IT’S IN! Because you have been preaching a watered-down gospel for the past generation, judgment is right at the door! Because you have said, “we live in the heavenly kingdom, and don’t need to get ourselves dirty in this earthly one”, this earthly one is going to rise up and show you what real tyranny is like.  2) Healthcare bill dissected page by page Peter Fleckenstein, a blogger and former Marine from Phoenix, is going through the ObamaCare bill page by page and highlighting the provisions he finds there. Clearly, Fleckenstein has struck a nerve. His list, originally published as a series of Twitter posts, has gone viral via e-mail. Within days, the liberal fascists published his personal information on Twitter as a means to silence him. Fleckenstein promises legal action. . Supporters of President Obama's plan say they are pushing back against opposition that is disruptive and designed to shut down debate. But opponents say the supporters' tactics are underhanded and designed to undermine democracy in action. In Texas, Rep. Gene Green's office is requiring town hall attendees to present a photo ID that proves they live in his district. On his Web site, Green says "due to a coordinated effort to disrupt our town hall meetings, we will be restricting further attendance to residents ... and verifying residency by requiring photo identification." Too bad Rep. Gene Green voted AGAINST the same measure for voters. I guess when it suits YOUR purposes Gene Green, then you‘ll require photo identification… …In Illinois, two Republican lawmakers sent a letter to Obama this week complaining that Democratic organizers scheduled meetings between them and their constituents without ever notifying them, misleading their constituents into going to town halls on the wrong day. Illinois Reps. Mark Kirk and Judy Biggert wrote that their constituents had apparently signed up for meetings to discuss health care reform with them after receiving an Aug. 9 e-mail from BarackObama.com urging them to do so. "However, the names of our constituents and the times they wished to visit were never communicated to us," the letter said. As a result, the lawmakers claimed more than 20 constituents came to their district offices on Monday. "When they learned neither the White House, the Democratic National Committee nor Organizing for America had passed their request to our offices, they were understandably confused and upset with the BarackObama.com e-mail they had received," they wrote. …Health Care for America Now, a coalition group organizing support for Obama's proposal, e-mailed a four-page memo to activists across the country on how to provide "cover" to lawmakers at the town halls. The group, whose members include ACORN, the Service Employees International Union and the National Council of La Raza, urged activists to contact lawmakers before the town halls to plan ways to preempt opposition. See: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/08/13/supporters-obamas-health-care-plan-push-town-hall-protesters/ 2b) Press Largely Ignored Hostile Protester Rhetoric Towards Bush As Obama-loving media continue their assault on town hall meeting protesters, they seem to have forgotten how they covered civil disobedience when George W. Bush was in the White House. …When Bush visited Portland, Ore., for a fundraiser, protesters stalked his motorcade, assailed his limousine and stoned a car containing his advisers. Chanting "Bush is a terrorist!", the demonstrators bullied passers-by, including gay softball players and a wheelchair-bound grandfather with multiple sclerosis. One protester even brandished a sign that seemed to advocate Bush's assassination. The man held a large photo of Bush that had been doctored to show a gun barrel pressed against his temple. "BUSH: WANTED, DEAD OR ALIVE," read the placard, which had an X over the word "ALIVE." Another poster showed Bush's face with the words: "F--- YOU, MOTHERF---ER!" A third sign urged motorists to "HONK IF YOU HATE BUSH." A fourth declared: "CHRISTIAN FASCISM," with a swastika in place of the letter S in each word. Quite different from today's reporting of what's going on at town hall meetings, correct? See: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2009/08/13/press-largely-ignored-hostile-rhetoric-directed-bush 2c) White House uses e-mail to counter health critics WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's push to revamp health care got a boost Thursday as a new coalition of drug makers, unions, hospitals and others launched a $12 million pro-overhaul ad campaign. Meanwhile, the administration sought to regain control of the health care debate by asking supporters to forward a chain e-mail to counter criticism that's circulating on the Internet. …"So let's start a chain e-mail of our own," he said, inviting supporters to forward a message countering claims that Obama's plans would lead to rationing, encourage euthanasia or deplete veterans' health care. Yeah! And let’s fill it with all the same platitudes and lies that we present on CBS, ABC, and NBC! And a whole bunch of people receiving these e-mails never signed up for these lists…the White House is now spamming people.  See: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090813/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_obama_health_care 2d) Town halls burst with Obama 'plants' Campaign donors, health care lobbyist, SEIU members, fake doctor The White House insists that attendees are selected at random, but a closer look reveals many questioners range from Obama campaign donors and Organizing for America volunteers to single-payer health care lobbyists and Service Employees International Union members.   Well, no kidding! See: http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=106811 2e) Sarah Palin: Troubling Questions Remain About Obama's Health Care Plan The president is busy assuring us that we can keep our private insurance plans, but common sense (and basic economics) tells us otherwise. The public option in the Democratic health care plan will crowd out private insurers, and that’s what it’s intended to do. A single payer health care plan has been President Obama’s agenda all along, though he is now claiming otherwise. Don’t take my word for it. Here’s what he said back in 2003: “I happen to be a proponent of a single payer universal health care plan.... A single payer health care plan – universal health care plan – that’s what I would like to see.” See: http://www.facebook.com/sarahpalin?v=app_2347471856&viewas=6190&ref=search 2f) 'Death Panels' in Oregon? (A State with State-Run Health Care)   Perhaps former Governor Sarah Palin (R-Alaska) was referring to the tragic predicament of Barbara Wagner of Oregon when she wrote how she feared for the fate of her Down Syndrome son under "Obama's 'Death Panels.' " Susan Donaldson James of ABC News reports on the letter Ms. Wagner received from the Oregon Health Plan in response to a $4000 a month drug her doctor prescribed after her lung cancer, long in remission, returned…  the insurance company refused to pay. What the Oregon Health Plan did agree to cover, however, were drugs for a physician-assisted death. Those drugs would cost about $50. See: http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2009/08/death_panels_in_oregon.html RUSH: These are death panels, by the way. In Levin's book, Liberty and Tyranny, let me quote: "Barbara Wagner was diagnosed with a recurrence of lung cancer. Her doctors recommended a specific drug to help prolong and improve the quality of her life.  "However, Barbara is a resident of Oregon and therefore, part of the state-run Oregon Health Plan. The state refused Barbara Wagner's request for the drug since it doesn't cover drugs that are meant to prolong the life of individuals with advanced cancer. After all, when the Oregon Health Plan was established in 1994 it 'was expressly intended to ration health care'" to save money. "But Oregon also has legalized assisted suicide, and in an unsigned letter from the state, Barbara was informed that the health plan would pay to cover the costs of a doctor to help her kill herself," but not give her the drug to prolong her life.  See: http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_081309/content/01125108.guest.html 2g) Nazis for Me, but Not for Thee Why shouldn’t socialized medicine prompt comparisons to National Socialism? It’s this week’s fashion on the left, and among such fashionably contemplative moderates as Mort Kondracke, to blast Rush Limbaugh for comparing Democrats to the Nazis. It’s no surprise that the Obama hardcores are misrepresenting the sequence and substance of events, but I would have hoped that Kondracke would at least have noted that Rush’s comparison — even if Kondracke thought it unwise — was neither gratuitous nor demagogic.  To recap, the speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, started this episode by comparing American citizens who oppose Obamacare to the Nazis and asserting that her political opponents were donning “swastikas.” (Sen. Barbara Boxer simultaneously ripped Obamacare dissenters for their Brooks Brothers suits — it’s not altogether clear where on the twill the swastika goes.) Pelosi’s tactic was the shopworn smear we on the right have dealt with for six decades. There is no conceivable substantive connection between opposition to Obamacare and German National Socialism — they are antithetical. By invoking the Nazis, Pelosi was patently slandering dissenters as racist thugs. The response came several days after WND submitted questions to the National Guard about the advertisements for "Internment" soldiers who could operate in a "civilian resettlement" center. …Guard spokesman Col. Michael Jones, however, told WND the job description has been around for years and is one area of specialization for members of the military police corps. Sources: Intel agents snooping, relaying information to terror group The Russian intelligence service may be providing valuable information to Hezbollah about Israeli activities, prompting concern in Tel Aviv that any future military initiative against the group may not come as a surprise, according to a report from Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin. The group also says it has garnered about 75,000 signatories for an online petition against Beck to be sent to advertisers. See: http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=106805
